Another Popular Figure in the 2016 Election is Bernie Sanders
Bernie Sanders was born September 8, 1941 to immigrant parents. Being of Jewish descent and from a family drastically affected by the German holocaust Bernie knows first hand how very important politics can be.
He has sat as the Vermont senator since 2007 and is the longest serving independent in the United States. Considered a socialist he ran for the Democratic party nomination in the 2016 election. His campaign started off slow but at about the midway point snowballed into a loyal following that is unparalleled in past elections.
With slogans like "Feel the Bern" and "Enough BS it's time for B.S." his followers were captivated by his messages. At one of his rallies a small bird landed on his podium to listen to his speech setting off an even deeper loyalty among his followers.
Hillary pulled into the lead early in the primaries outdistancing Bernie by an irreversible margin. If Bernie's popularity had kick-started just a few months earlier he could have become the oldest person ever to be elected as president of the United States.
