Bargain Shopping: My Secret Addiction
Addicted To Shopping Or Simply A Savvy Bargain Shopper?
Whenever a purchase or referral is made from an advertisement on this website a commission or referral payment is made to Lorelei Cohen.
I think that I may be addicted to shopping. Not just any kind of shopping mind you, the shopping that I love to do is referred to as bargain shopping. I will never sacrifice quality for a lower cost but I definitely want to get my products for the best possible price. I love to get a good deal for my dollar. I don't have a lot of money and I want to get the most fun that I can out of mine. This is probably a good thing because it often takes me a very long time to spend my money.
I simply love all the rituals that go into shopping. It is my secret addiction and I happily jog through the local stores as often as I am able to. I scour fliers for sales, I cut out coupons, I clearance shop and I bargain hunt. I love garage sales and I adore thrift stores. Although I can spend hours out shopping I will often come home with an empty basket if I don't stumble upon a great find.
Even when I don't buy anything on my trip I am still perfectly content because I had money in my pocket to spend and I was out shopping. When there is a good deal out there and I manage to find it then I am thrilled right down to the very bottom of my tired little tippy toes. It doesn't matter if it is a sixty-five cent tube of toothpaste that I purchase or some rare antique at a yard sale, I'll be happy as a lark when I get back home because I got a a great deal while I was out shopping. Yes, I may be a shopping addict but I really don't mind.

My Lack Of Willpower Could Be My Father's Fault
I will be the first to admit that I am a person with a very limited amount of self control. I have often made the comment that it is a very good thing that I never got into drugs because I would definitely have been addicted.
I just have no will power. None. Zip. Zilch. Trust me I have tried to control my crazy nature but it is just too darn difficult to accomplish. My total lack of ability to stop myself from doing what I want to do could be a genetic flaw passed down to me by my free spirited fun loving father. It could also just be a tendency that I have developed on my path to my own immaturity. Whatever the case it is something that I have no desire to change.
Years ago it did concern me somewhat but I sat myself down, analyzed my life, and I came to the conclusion that my lack of control wasn't hurting anyone and that I could live with me being just the way that I am. I like being a little out of control. It is what makes me 'ME'. It makes me content within my life by affording me a reason to continue to exist on this old planet that we call home.
So whenever money dribbles into my hot little hands, I pay a set amount on the things that I must pay, and then a distinct portion is set aside for play. Each and every drip of money that enters my home is divided this way and it allows me my means to do all the things that I love so much to do. And what I really truly love to do is shop! I am a natural born bargain shopper. So feel free to join me on one of my little eco-friendly shopping sprees.

The Little Rituals That Make Shopping Fun
I have little rituals that go along with my shopping trips, and every moment of these are looked forward to and savoured for the small pleasures that they too provide.
One of these is my coffee stop at a cafe or restaurant during shopping. I choose a relaxing spot where I can just sit and sip and people watch. Often times I pre-arrange a coffee meeting with a friend while at other times it is just by chance that friends appear at the location where I am at on that days outing.
Whether I am with someone or out shopping alone I just truly enjoy this little time of relaxation within my outing. I people watch. If I am alone I enjoy watching the people around me. Because I generally like to shop alone I guess that this is one of the social aspect of my shopping trips. It is a tradition that I truly love.

Our Mall Has a Wishing Well Which is Super Sweet
Another ritualistic part of my shopping trips involves a visit to the mall wishing well to make a wish. What good is an outing without the chance of some new and wonderful event occurring? Being able to stop by the wishing well and make that magical little wish always seems to make the odds of something amazing happening just a little better. Whether I am alone or with the grandkids i always stop to make a wish.
If I have the grandchildren with me then they empty my wallet of all those mystical magical shiny little copper pennies that they will use to make their wishes hopefully come true. I always try to keep as many wishes as possible in my wallet specifically for those days. It is amazing how much excitement the thought of 'five whole wishes' can produce.
I guess the best part of my bargain shopping trips is my bragging rights. I get to rave about the great deals that I have found on my shopping trips and this gives me something to talk about when I run into a friend while on yet another of my shopping trip coffee breaks.

You help keep excess plastics out of our environment whenever you use eco-friendly cotton, jute, or canvas shopping bags. These washable reusable bags help to reduce green house gases by keeping oil based plastics from being produced (Kind of a nice thing to do). Made from cotton linen or canvas cloth these bags are washable, which means they are ideal to be used time and time again in your grocery shopping. Also quite fashionably in an eco-friendly theme as well.
